Yep, this looks like fall in Florida. We have a few oaks that change colors but those are rare and not nearly as impressive as a complete forest of fall. But we do have this vine that I call the heart vine. It grows everywhere along the roads in the Panhandle and the leaves are shaped like hearts. They turn a golden yellow and they are very pretty, but extremely evasive. It’s called an Air Potato (Dioscorea Bulbifera), or it could be a native moonflower, or a Climbing Hempvine. Which ever one I see around here, it’s nice to see some fall. We also have a tallow tree in our yard. It landed there and we had it taken out so we’d have a better view, but it’s growing back. Again, invasive but beautiful in the fall. We’re going to cultivate this one and make it pretty. I need a bit of fall at the edge of summer. There is something about that cool bit of chilly air that makes me think of walking through leaves and drinking hot chocolate. It also makes me think of reading good books., too. I have stacks of those all over the house.
But I’m excited about this one that I just received in the mail:

Alice has written a book that’s part devotional and part essays on being an adoption lawyer for 35 years. She fought the good fight for so many families and the children who needed them. A touching memoir that every parent can read and learn from.
I also have a fall book out there:

I’m happy to share this one with my good friend, Lynette Eason. (She is also an amazing author!)
I have lots more books to read this fall. I hope you have a great season and enjoy books, friends, football, s’mores, and the turning of the earth. The seasons are a good reminder of how we each grow and change and become renewed again. God knows our seasons, just as He knows the shape of leaves on a vine. We can fall gently into His arms as we work through to winter.
